Meeting Opening:
The meeting was officially opened at 7:00pm, seconded by Andrew Craig.
Jason welcomed everyone and confirmed that general meetings will be held on the second Monday of each month, with plans to move to occasional in-person meetings later in the year. He also thanked the group for the opportunity to serve as President.
Previous Minutes:
The minutes from the AGM were confirmed, with Andrew seconding. No specific issues were raised, though Chris noted there is something to be tabled at a future meeting.
Financial Update:
- Closing balance: $3,406.88
- Interest earned: $1.79
- JoinIt payment: $133.17
- Membership renewals: 22 out of 25 members have renewed as of the date and time of this meeting
- Bank has been notified of leadership changes, but in-person follow-up is still required
Upcoming Events and Ideas:
- ATA Big Desert event towards the end of the month is proceeding
- Jason expressed interest in gathering member feedback to guide the club’s direction over the next year
- Andrew raised a discussion around event locations that encourage people to get out of their vehicles; Nick suggested somewhere around 200km from Melbourne
- Chris suggested running a day trip event before the end of the autumn season
- Sausage sizzle proposed to bring members together
- Steve proposed regular meetings in new locations and was tasked with organising the first one, suggesting Kinglake or Tallarook
- Harry suggested a group trip to Robe
- Jasper will host a Mount Cole trip
- Jason floated the idea of a weekend trip to South Australia
- Steve is interested in organising a Border Track trip
- Jason suggested a Portland trip involving the local sand dune club; Chris to look into organising this for Q3 or Q4
- Chris to explore options for transparent club stickers
Club Promotion & Membership:
Chris raised the idea of a video introduction for the committee as part of a broader club promotion and new member welcome initiative. He acknowledged that due to recent events, he hasn’t been able to focus on presentation but still sees value in engaging new members through media.
There was some general discussion around the types of members the club wants to attract.
